The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County has issued new regulations governing pick-up for yard waste.
These new rules affect “Service Area 3,” which is the Escondido neighborhood’s region. These new standards are to take effect October 1, 2026.
Per the displayed image, the limitations are as follows:
- Branches, stumps or logs must be cut into pieces no more than 6 feet long and no more than 6 inches in diameter
- Branches, stumps or logs must weigh less than 50 pounds each
- Palm fronds may be any length
- Yard waste piles must be kept separate from any other debris
- Yard waste piles may not exceed 12 cubic yards. Over-limit piles will be tagged and property-owners will need to make necessary arrangements for removal
- Loose vegetation like leaves, tree and hedge trimmings, pine needles, etc. should be placed in a container, preferably a paper bag or garbage can. No such container may exceed 50 pounds
- To arrange removal of a yard waste pile that exceeds the 12-cubic-yards limit, select a private hauler or contact the SWA for a removal estimate. The pre-negotiated rate for removal is $10 per cubic yard. Once paid, the yard waste will be removed within 72 hours. You may contact SWA customer support at 561-697-2700 or contactcis@swa.org
